Professor Edelman has experience helping clients to protect their intellectual property rights in industries as diverse as sports and entertainment, social networking, and new media.  One of his research interests involves safeguarding individuals’ publicity rights in an increasingly digital world.

Professor Edelman has two recent articles that discuss intellectual property rights in the digital age.  His 2012 Harvard law journal article A Short Treatise on Fantasy Sports and the Law discusses the full range of intellectual property issues in the fantasy sports industry.  Meanwhile, his 2013 Florida Law Review article Closing the ‘Free Speech’ Loophole: The Case for Protecting College Athletes’ Publicity Rights in Commercial Videogames explains why courts should protect publicity rights in digital media.
